Error: no such partition. Grub rescue” error screen on startup – Linux boot failures


Grub rescue
Follow below steps to get the boot menu.


Step 1:

Type ls

grub rescue>> ls

A list of sections will be displayed (as follows), we need to find the drive with the installed Linux.

(hd0) (hd0,msdos1) (hd0,msdos2) (hd0,msdos3) (hd0,msdos4)….

Step 2:

Type set prefix=(hd0,6)/boot/grub

grub rescue>> set prefix=(hd0,msdos1)/boot/grub

If no error message then continue step 3 else keep trying to find the drive where the Linux is installed by changing msdos1 to msdos2, msdos3 etc.. on above command until we get no error message.

Step 3:
Type insmod normal

grub rescue>> insmod normal

Step 4:

Type normal

grub rescue>> normal

It will automatically find all operating systems and displays the boot menu.
